Real-time communication technologies permit the users to perform instantaneous social interactions, often through social media apps and live-streaming services. However, the immediacy of real-time communication is an illusion as the data encoding and distributing process takes time. This causes delay (latency) in real life. So, Documenting the Past LIVE is a project that attempts to capture the moments of delay and the gap between the present and real-time.

Documenting the Past LIVE: Clock (there are several versions of the work) above. The web browser on the left displays Youtube streaming in progress, the window on the right shows a camera app. The video is created by screen recording.
The project eventually developed to incorporate the viewers, as an exhibition that can be viewed live.
